Judge Marvin R. Halbert served on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Bench for 27 years before retiring in 2001.

Since that time, for more than 5 years, he has been sitting every day, Pro Bono, as a Settlement Master at the Philadelphia Dispute Resolution Center in City Hall, settling civil cases on behalf of the Court.

Judge Halbert is also an Instructor at the Temple Association for Retired Persons, (T.A.R.P.), and in that capacity conducts Mock Trials for his classes, offering attorneys, Pro Bono, a way to "test market" trial strategies. Mock Trials allow attorneys to discover how juries will assess the credibility of various witnesses and what a jury feels the case is "worth."
